Key Features

The functions, features and quality construction of this DVR PCI card are unbelievable for the price. These same cards are used as the base for our professional DVR systems.

If you are familiar with computers or have an understanding of them you can construct your own professional DVR and save ££££`s

We recommend you use a computer with at least the minimum specification, detailed below (see manufacturers specifications) We advise you to use a full motherboard without onboard graphics and a separate high quality graphics card. Do not use a pre built machine from a shop, instead buy a genuine copy of Window 2000, XP Home or XP Professional and build from scratch. The machine should be used as a DVR only for best results.

However if you are on a budget and still want a very good system you can use an existing computer. The vgaurd syetem will conitinue to run in the background without affecting other programmes you maybe using. Be aware that other programmes and viruses may affect the reliability of your Vguard DVR programme and that this solution is not recommended for medium to high risk CCTV installations.

Below is the manufacturers technical jargon, but what can the DVR do:

1) Record multiple cameras images at the same time. each card takes upto 4 cameras and upto 4 cards can be fitted into a computer if you have sufficent spare PCI slots. This gives a maximum of 16 cameras.

2) Display from 1 to 16 cameras at the same time with several other display optins in between.

3) You can adjust frame rate recording and image quality settings to maximise the balance between the number of images recorded per camera per second and the definition of the picture to maximise recording times.

4) Each individual camera can be set to record continously, by time and date (ie only record at certain times of certain days) or by motion detection. Motion detection recording is extremely useful as it only records when the system detects movement within the cameras view. Certain parts of the picture can be blanked off from the motion detection software, so for instance if you have a tree or a bush in the picture, which would create false alarms, this motion is ingnored by the system. The motion detection also has adjustments for sensitivity and number of image changes, these setting allow very acurate setting of the motiuon detection to elminate false alarms/recordings.

5) The system is triplex in operation ie: It continues to record while recording are being played back and or also you can monotor live images while playing back recordings. The programme has  a neat little feature that if you see an incident live you can instantly play back the incident by right clicking your mouse on the relevant camera.

6) You can search your recordings by time date or event, you can play any 4 cameras back at the same time, or individual cameras if you wish. You can pause playback, take a still image, print a still image, copy still image to floppy disk,(this image will open just about on any computer no special sofrware is required.) You can take a clip of the video and save or copy to CD or DVD or back to to another internal or external hard drive device. The software comes with the vgc player programme which can be loaded onto any computer to play back your CD or DVD recordings.

7) Each camera is stamped with time and date. Each camera can be adjusted for brightness, contrast, colour saturation and hue. This can even be adjusted on playback images as well as live images.

8) Each card allows the input of 2 microphones for that real time audio recording can be made as well as video.

9) The systems has fanatastic networking, remote viewing and alarm reporting capabilities. First networking, computers fitted with the Vguard DVR cards can be networked (Lan or Wan) either to and or other computers with or without the Vguard DVR cards. This means that your Vguard DVR machine maybe in a secure place not easily accessable for day to day use, however via a standard network cable this can be linked into your computer network, therefore allowing you to view pictures, adjust settings and even playback recordings on any computer on your network. You can even download recordings to any computer on the network. These features can even be used over wan/internet. You do not need to know about networking as Vguard as its own server software to make the communication between computers simple. The connection of more than 1 Vguard DVR is also very useful, say I have a very large building and I want 4 cameras in one area and 8 cameras in another, normally i would have to run a cable from each camera back to one central point, what I can do is put 4 cameras on one DVR and 8 on the other link these into my network and then view all 12 cameras on either machine or any computer on my network. This also works for wan installations I may have several sites I wish to monitor/access remotely say from home or head office. I can connect all machines from all sites to one central point at the same time. I can select via the my channels options which cameras to monitor from which site at which time. ie: I could be watching a single camera from 16 different sites at the same time on one remote monitor screen.

10) The system supports most protocols for PTZ and speed dome cameras. The softwre allows you to contol multiple full function cameras from either the Vguard DVR machine itself or any computer on its LAN/WAN network.

11) The system also has an hardware/software watch dog. If the DVR computer should crash or lock up or even have a mains power failure the machine will automatically restart and run all programmes as normal even reconnecting to the network.

12) The system has a emap function this can be very useful when dealing with large installations and large networks. You can upload diagrams of your premises and mark your cameras on these diagrams. By clicking on any camera on any diagram will automatically display this camera.

13) The system can report alarm activations by several methods. A) email the system will report an alarm activation to pre set email address and attached snap shots of the alarm event. B) The system can dial a telephone to report an alarm event c) The system can contact any computer on its LAN/WAN network and send audiable alert and video of the alarm event.

Intelligent SMICT compression technique

By using Chateau’s SMICT compression technology the VG4C-XP DVR PCI card adopts it’s own intelligent image compression technique. This is developed and designed for the professional CCTV monitoring and recording market. We created our own hardware compression chip, DSP IC. It has high resolution 704 x 576 pixel (pal) full color recording. The Image Contract and Separation of front and back image techniques built into the DSP IC allows separation of the motion object and compressed image. When used  in motion detection mode this substantially increases the compression speed to receive better image quality and effectively extend the recording time.

Stability of the system

VGuard system is developed in accordance with Windows 2000 and XP OS systemand now also compatible with Windows Vista.  It has it’s own stable system structure.  After long term testing in the factory and in the field, this has produced the most stable product in terms of software and hardware.  The internal Watchdog function automatically restores all functions if the computer crashes. It can automatically restarts the computer and restarts the Chateau program.  This stable structure with the clever anti-crash design gives the safest protection.

Most truthfully and real time information

VG4C- XP can record 16 video channels and 8 audio channels simultaneously.  There is n o need to install extra audio recording card This reduces costs and makes audio video sync. easy.

Supports most PTZ protocols and I/O facilities

You can directly control PTZ cameras and speed domes, go up, down, right, left, turn focus, iris control and zoom in/out directly from the screen.  You can also use Preset point functions, Cruise functions and Auto Pan Functions.  Other than this, our system can support 8 input/output connections for connecting alarm inputs and driving associated outputs.
